I was absolutely thrilled to get the call from Instinct Skis about this most recent project. The scene for this collaboration was inspired by the view at the top of Cypress, close to where I live on Vancouver’s North Shore. It’s one of the Lower Mainland’s most spectacular vistas to watch the sun set but there is an extra magical quality added after a fresh snowfall has swept through, leaving every surface clad with the glistening goodness.
As a musician and self-taught artist, I grew up playing guitar and singing in bands. My passion for art had me volunteering to illustrate the gig posters and album covers. To get people out to the shows, the posters had to be eye catching, bold and colourful.
Eventually I made a progression into painting landscapes but kept a lot of the graphic sensibility I had developed. Now I find myself hiking the local mountains to search for spots that are seasoned with character, shaped purely by the elements with ancient stories to tell. Seeking to capture the rejuvenating essence of these places and personify them. Refining their elements down to the most fundamental form and adding a healthy dose of that electrifying colour therapy to make a bold visual statement.

Duane Murrin - ARTIST SERIES #3

"Blue Moon"

Duane Murrin was our third Artist Series collaboration and our second collaborating artist. This wonderful painting has been a favourite among our friends and fans alike. The cool blue tones and the glistening moonlight evoke a feeling you can only get, out in the mountains of BC under a bright moon in depth of winter.

We are very proud to work with incredible artists that capture the feeling and inspiration that we handcraft our skis to chase as often as we possibly can.
